According to the Hindu calendar, Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month will start at 12:21 am on August 21 and end at 2 am on August 22 at midnight. Nagpanchami will be celebrated on Monday 21 August according to Udaya Tithi. Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Snake God is also a devotee of Lord Shiva. In this way, Nagpanchami falling on Monday is considered very auspicious. This festival is celebrated to worship Lord Shiva and the serpents. On this day people worship the serpent god and go to snake temples and offer milk, curd, fruits, etc. to snakes. Worshiping snakes on Nag Panchami is considered very beneficial to remove Kalsarp Dosh. To remove the Kalsarp defect, there is a law of worshiping snakes in pilgrimage places like Mahamrityunjaya Sarpgayatri Jaap or Trimbakeshwar. Astrologers say that on the day of Nag Panchami, a person suffering from a snake defect should take a pair of silver or copper snakes and offer it on Shivling. Chant Om Namah Shivay or Mahamrityunjaya mantra. Along with this chanting of snake, Gayatri helps in getting relief from Kalsarp Dosh.

अनन्तं वासुकिं शेषं पद्मनाभं च कम्बलम्।
शङ्ख पलं धृतराष्ट्रं तक्षकं कालियं तथाः
एतानि नव नामानि नागानां च महात्मनाम्।
सायङ्काले पथेन्नित्यं प्रातःकाले विशेषतः।
तस्य विषभयं नास्ति सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत्॥
