There are 18 participants participating in three groups of six this season, each of which is headed by a judge.
Don't switch channels once the celebrations are over if you're watching this year's National Day Parade (NDP) on your televisions on August 9.
The fourth season of MasterChef Singapore will premiere at 8.30 p.m. on Mediacorp's Channel 5 and mewatch just after the NDP celebrations.
But there will be a little surprise this season.
Similar to The Voice, there will be three groups of six aspiring home chefs competing against one another. The fights for individual awards will come into sharper focus as the rivalry heats up. The MasterChef title, S$10,000 in cash, internship possibilities, leisure packages, and a variety of home goods and appliances will go to the final cook.
This season's contestants comprise folks from all walks of life:
- Amanda Chia, 23, legal trainee
- Aameer Ailmchandani, 24, spice mixer
- Aretha Law, 24, engineer
- Aizat Haikal Saini, 33, ex-flight attendant
- Esther Aw, 53, homemaker
- Dheive Uthaman, 25, digital marketer
- Divya Tolath, 31, account director
- Inderpal Singh, 33, home-based business owner
- Jacky Tan, 41, marketing consultant
- Tham Jun Gui, 33, home-based baker
- Jonathan Ng, 37, shipbroker
- Louise Yuan, 43, a food start-up owner
- Mandy Kee, 41, business manager
- Reuben Wong, 30, a former pharmacist
- Saza Faradilla, 27, student life manager
- Sharmaine Toh, 25, urban planner
- Tina Amin, 42, administrative officer
- Lin Zi Xuan, 18, a student
Chefs Audra Morrice, Bjorn Shen, and Damian D'Silva will be in charge of them.
In a statement, Angeline Poh, Chief Customer and Corporate Development Officer, Mediacorp, said, "We are thrilled to open the doors to the MasterChef kitchen this National Day, in a perfectly timed celebration of Singaporeans' universal love for food."
