JEE Advanced 2023: 'Expect an increase in cut-off this year,' say experts

JEE Advanced 2023: On June 4, the JEE Advanced 2023 examination was held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. On June 9, the student's response sheets were made available on the school's website, jeeadv.ac.in.
Experts predict that the qualifying cut-off would be greater than it was the previous year because the exam was of a moderately challenging level.

"This year, we may see some increase in the final cut-off marks as the overall number of students who appeared this year was higher than last year," said Nitin Arora, Assistant Director (Engg) - Aakash BYJU's Digital.

"The overall cut-off is anticipated to be approximately 17% for applicants in the unreserved category and around 15% for EWS and OBC candidates. The cut-off is anticipated to be about 8% for SC and ST students, according to Arora.

IIT-Guwahati has already made the response sheets and test papers for JEE Advanced available.

According to Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academic Officer of Vidyamandir Classes, the unreserved category cut-off mark would range from 49 to 52. The cut-off marks for OBC and EWS students will be 80% of the general category's cut-off, while they will be 50% for SC and ST students, according to Kumar.

In contrast to the 29.54 percent passing rate in 2021, the 2022 pass rate was 26.17 percent. In order to create a pool of suitable applicants at least twice the size of the total number of seats available, the qualifying marks were also decreased compared to 2021. The overall percentile for the general, EWS, and OBC categories was 13.89%, while the SC and ST category had a percentile of 7.78%.
