SINGAPORE — A man was charged with a hasty act on Wednesday (June 28) after he crashed his car into a condominium's swimming pool.

Chean Tuck Heng, age 67, was charged with one count of recklessly endangering life while operating a machine.

On February 28 of this year, he allegedly committed the crime by plowing a car into a swimming pool at The Hillside condominium on Upper Bukit Timah Road.

Chean was a driver for the ride-hailing app Gojek at the time, taking a passenger.

His white Honda Vezel entered the condo through the front gate in the viral video, but instead of turning right, he drove up towards a block.

In a statement released in March, the management of the condominium said that Chean briefly stopped his car before turning right into a pedestrian walkway.

He ran over some potted plants before turning around and running over more.

Also captured on camera was a security guard telling him to turn around, but Chean instead sped into the pool.

The condominium claimed that it was seeking legal counsel in order to file a claim for property damage.

Singaporean Chean plans to enter a guilty plea and will do so when he appears in court again in August.

He might spend up to a year in jail, pay a fine of up to $5,000, or both if found guilty of a reckless act endangering human life. CNA
