Raaj Shaandilyaa returned to the spotlight in 2023 with "Dream Girl 2," following his successful endeavor with "Dream Girl" in 2019. This comedy sensation debuted on August 25 and starred Ayushmann Khurrana in the dual roles of Pooja and Karam, with Ananya Panday as Pari.
Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor funded the film, which is now receiving a mixed response from critics and the general audience.
Initial estimates show that Dream Girl 2 began on a good note, making a loud entrance into theatres, and accumulating an amazing 9.70 crore in India on its first day.
Importantly, the three well-known national theatre chains PVR, Cinepolis, and INOX played a crucial role in the movie's overall Day 1 revenues, contributing close to 60% of the total, with an estimated collection of 5.35 crore.
The story of Dream Girl 2 centers on Karam, who, as a result of a significant incident in his life, changes into the character Pooja. Karam marries the son of a wealthy person with the help of his father's guidance, setting off a chain of unsettling occurrences.
Famous performers like Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa are all part of the cast and play significant roles in the plot as it develops.
This film is in a direct confrontation with the two historical classics that cemented the success of Gadar 2 and Jailer in the midst of that triumph. Rajinikanth's Jailer outperformed Gadar 2 with a remarkable take of about 44.50 crore in India, while Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 earned an amazing Day 1 total of about 35 crore.
Significantly, Gadar 2 has now definitely established its status as Bollywood's most important opener of 2023, coming in just after Pathaan.
