When the water levels at Yamuna hit 208.48 meters at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, they broke the 45-year-old record. The authorities had predicted that the water levels would most likely rise.


All schools, colleges, and non-essential government offices must be closed through Sunday, under the Delhi government's directive.

On Wednesday, 2,500 aid camps received at least 16,500 evacuees from six districts. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has already pleaded with the Centre to take action to halt the water release from the Hathni Kund barrage in Haryana.
