Karma Vijay Diwas The historic Kargil War played a significant role in Indian history in 2023. The unique day of Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the triumph of Indian troops against the Pakistani Army in taking control of the mountaintops. Every year on July 26, the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during the Kargil War.

 

 In Ladakh's Dras, a two-day celebration commemorating the 24th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas and the deaths of 559 soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War, got underway on Tuesday.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the slain soldiers from the 1999 Kargil war on the Kargil Vijay Diwas. On Twitter, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Kargil Vijay Diwas brings to the forefront the heroic narrative of those beautiful brave Indians who will always serve as an example to their compatriots. I salute him from the bottom of my heart and bow down to him on this special day. India is still alive.


To honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Kargil war on Wednesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh's Dras. Also, he went to the museum called the "Hut of Memory," which was built in memory of the Kargil warriors.


General Manoj Pande, head of the Army, lay a wreath at the war memorial together with Admiral R Hari Kumar, head of the Indian Navy, General Anil Chauhan, head of the Defense Staff (CDS), and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.


On the 24th anniversary of the conflict, four MIG 29 planes and three Cheetal helicopters of Army Aviation flew by the Kargil War Memorial dousing it in flower petals.

The Kargil Shaheed Smriti Vatika hosted an event in Lucknow on Wednesday where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid respect to the servicemen who lost their lives during the Kargil war. On Wednesday, he wrote on Twitter, "Hearty greetings to all the people of the state on 'Kargil Vijay Diwas', a magnificent day."


Congratulations on #KargilVijayDiwas to the brave members of our Armed Forces, their families, and all fellow Indians, tweeted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Salutations to the brave hearts who gave their lives in the Kargil War in order to protect our nation. Generations will be inspired by their unwavering bravery and heroism.


Prahlad Joshi, minister of parliamentary affairs, and S. Jaishankar, minister of external affairs, all paid tribute to the soldiers.


Celebration of a two-day event in Dras, Ladakh

Tuesday saw the start of a two-day celebration in Ladakh's Dras honoring the Kargil Vijay Diwas and the 559 troops who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. Commemorations for the heroic martyrs were held at the Lamochen viewpoint in Dras by combat heroes and families of the deceased.


Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, the commander of the Northern Army, attended as the main guest. Following this, a cultural event was hosted with Army Commander Gen. Manoj Pande in attendance.


At the occasion, Pande spoke with veterans and recipients of the gallantry medal. He made things easier for the troops' families.
