Bastar  Announcement

Unveiling our newest Bastar, Sunshine Pictures tweeted. Get ready to experience yet another compelling true story that will leave you stunned. Date April 5, 2024, on your calendars.

The movie's poster showed a woodland surrounded by large, foreboding clouds of smoke following gunshots and a red flag. Also visible was a rifle. The poster's text stated, "Hidden truth that will take the nation by storm - Bastar."

Feedback on the Bastar poster

A fan responded to the post by requesting that Vidyut Jammwal be cast in the forthcoming movie. He wrote in a tweet, "Director and producer should approach @VidyutJammwal for this movie." Also posted by a fan was "Eagerly awaiting this film." I'm hoping that this will be just as truth-exposing and hard-hitting. I applaud the team for coming back together despite The Kerala Story receiving negative press from the industry.

About The Kerala Story

Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani play the main parts in Sudipto Sen's film The Kerala Story, which he also wrote and directed. The movie came out on May 5. Vipul Shah produced it, and sales of the movie exceeded 200 crores.

The Kerala Story Controversy

After the trailer for The Kerala Story was released, criticism erupted surrounding the film. It stated that more than 32000 ladies from Kerala were recruited by the terrorist organization ISIS and forced to convert to Islam. Later, the figure was taken out of the trailer, and it was stated in the trailer description that the plot involved three Keralan ladies.

The Kerala Story sparked a political debate since many people viewed it as propaganda. A few people, including Kamal Haasan and Naseeruddin Shah, expressed their disapproval of the movie while others, including superstars like Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, Vivek Agnihotri, and others, came out in its defense. The West Bengali government also momentarily forbade the showing of the movie.

Director of The Kerala Story on Criticism

Sudipto Sen, the director, stated that no political party should have opposed The Kerala Story in a recent interview with Hindustan Times. I was not ready for the backlash, he had said. Yes, I was prepared for the response and the pushback. This is due to the fact that I have never considered the current political argument to be necessary.

No political party should have opposed us because we are discussing the lives of females, the filmmaker continued. If only they had agreed that the girls had endured enough, "Yes, let's debate different aspects of it."
